Welcome to the 2019 Civic Academy! Through a series of presentations, tours, hands-on demonstrations and other activities, you will be part of a behind-the-scenes look at the Town of Parker’s government, departments, services and engagement opportunities.

Over the course of the academy, you will gain...

  • An understanding of your role in local government
  • Networking opportunities with Town staff, elected officials and partner agencies
  • An increased awareness of Town departments, including the services provided, operations and how decisions are made
  • Insight into advocating for your community through involvement and engagement
  • Knowledge of opportunities to become more involved in the Town of Parker

    Week 2 will begin with a presentation on the role of the Elected Officials followed by a Q & A Session with Parker's Elected Officials. After, we will conduct an interactive mock Town Council Meeting.

    Before we begin, there are a few housekeeping items:

    • Most classes will take place in Council Chambers at Town Hall. Food and drink are not allowed. For other sites, you are welcome to bring drinks and snacks to the meetings.
    • Due to the amount of information we are trying to present in such a small amount of time, we will not be taking breaks. If you need a break, please feel free to excuse yourself.
    • Please return your name tag to the box when leaving class for reuse each week.
