Consultation has concluded

Parker Town Council passed a resolution to adopt the Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan as part of the Town’s Transportation Master Plan on July 17, 2023. The Transportation Master Plan was adopted in 2014 and incorporates prior transportation-related plans such as the 2005 Bike Lane Plan and the 2010 Open Space, Trails and Greenways Master Plan. The Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan updates these prior plans and serves as the Town’s policy document for future bike and pedestrian mobility while serving as a road map to promote a safe, comfortable and well-connected bike and pedestrian network.

The adopted Plan is available in the "Documents" section of this project page.

Thank you to all residents who contributed their feedback to this project!

Project Overview

Bicycling and walking are not only great recreational pastimes, but are also important means of travel for many people in Colorado communities – including Parker. The Town of Parker continually plans for diverse transportation options including bicycling, walking, public transit and automobiles. The Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan (the ‘Plan’) will serve as the Town’s policy document and ‘road map’ to support safe, comfortable and connected bike and pedestrian infrastructure.

The Plan was developed as a supplement to the Town of Parker Transportation Master Plan. The new plan also incorporates the Town’s current Bike Lane Plan and includes recommendations to develop a consolidated bike and pedestrian master plan that creates a cohesive Townwide bicycle and pedestrian network for all users.

Purposes/Outcomes

The Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan aimed to:

  • Align Town policy and regulations with the community’s vision & goals for an active transportation plan
  • Provide guidance for future development of the bike and pedestrian infrastructure
  • Advance interconnectivity of the bike and pedestrian transportation network
  • Improve mobility choices and opportunities for walking and biking
  • Identify gaps in infrastructure to effectively allocate resources
  • Enhance the overall quality of life for Parker residents

The Process

The project began Winter 2020-21 with research, data collection and analysis. Adoption of the Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan was approved in Summer 2023.
