We’ve reached an exciting milestone in the work to reimagine the Parker Heritage Center, the local history museum inside The Schoolhouse on Mainstreet.
Since gathering community input through our public survey and June open house, the project team has been busy conducting extensive research, gathering stories, and collaborating with Tribal Consultants to develop a Final Interpretive Plan that will guide how Parker’s history is shared in the new Heritage Center.
At the heart of the plan is an overarching theme: “Parker grows with every generation that calls this place home.”
The Final Interpretive Plan was presented to Parker Town Council Sept. 14, marking the completion of this phase of the project. What’s next? The project is now moving into procurement and contracting for exhibit design and fabrication, taking another important step toward bringing the new Parker Heritage Center experience to life.
The Town of Parker, Douglas County, and Parker History are partnering on the project as part of Parker’s “Back to Our Roots” anniversary year.
This project is also supported in part by an America 250 - Colorado 150 Community Grant, helping communities commemorate the nation’s 250th and Colorado’s 150th anniversaries in 2026.
